उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा चुनाव में मैनपुरी जिले की हॉटसीट बन चुकी करहल एक बार फिर चर्चा में है। कांग्रेस ने करहल विधानसभा क्षेत्र में सपा प्रत्याशी पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव को वाकओवर दे दिया है। पहली सूची में ही करहल विधानसभा क्षेत्र से घोषित की गई महिला प्रत्याशी का कांग्रेस हाईकमान ने नामांकन तक नहीं कराया है।
कांग्रेस ने पहली सूची में करहल विधानसभा क्षेत्र से ज्ञानवती यादव और मैनपुरी सदर विधानसभा क्षेत्र से जिलाध्यक्ष विनीता शाक्य को प्रत्याशी घोषित किया था। ज्ञानवती को टिकट दिए जाने का कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं ने विरोध करके उनके पुतले तक फूंक दिए थे। समाजवादी पार्टी ने जब करहल विधानसभा क्षेत्र से पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव को प्रत्याशी बनाया तो कांग्रेस हाईकमान ने अपना निर्णय बदल दिया।
