भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ के निवर्तमान अध्‍यक्ष और भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के सांसद बृजभूषण शरण सिंह के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग कर रहे पहलवानों का समर्थन करते हुए बहुजन समाज पार्टी (बसपा) की अध्‍यक्ष और उत्तर प्रदेश की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री मायावती ने सोमवार को कहा कि बेटियों को न्याय दिलाने के लिए केन्द्र सरकार को जरूर आगे आना चाहिए। बसपा प्रमुख ने सोमवार को ट्वीट किया ”विश्व कुश्ती में भारत का नाम रौशन करके गौरवपूर्ण स्थान पाने वाली भारतीय बेटियां कुश्ती फेडरेशन ऑफ इण्डिया के प्रमुख पर शोषण के गंभीर आरोपों के विरुद्ध कार्रवाई की मांग को लेकर आंदोलन करने को मजबूर हैं।

मायावती ने इसी ट्वीट में कहा, इन बेटियों को न्याय दिलाने के लिए केन्द्र सरकार को जरूर आगे आना चाहिए। आंदोलनकारी पहलवानों में ओलंपिक पदक विजेता बजरंग पूनिया, साक्षी मलिक और एशियाई खेलों की स्वर्ण विजेता विनेश फोगाट शामिल हैं। आंदोलनकारियों ने भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ के निवर्तमान अध्यक्ष बृजभूषण शरण सिंह पर कई महिला पहलवानों का कथित यौन उत्पीड़न करने का आरोप लगाते हुए उन्हें गिरफ्तार करने की मांग की है।

दिल्ली पुलिस ने सिंह के खिलाफ दो प्राथमिकी दर्ज की हैं, जिनमें से एक नाबालिग पहलवान के आरोपों से संबंधित है और यौन अपराधों से बच्चों के संरक्षण (पॉक्सो) अधिनियम के तहत दर्ज की गई है, जबकि दूसरा मामला महिला पहलवानों के अपमान से संबंधित है। सिंह ने अपने खिलाफ लगे आरोपों को खारिज कर दिया और खुद का नार्को एनालिसिस और पॉलीग्राफ जांच कराने की मांग इस शर्त के साथ की कि विरोध करने वाले पहलवानों का भी यह परीक्षण कराया जाए।
