पश्चिमी यूपी में 58 सीटों पर हो रही पहले चरण की वोटिंग जारी है। यूपी के शामली, मुजफ्फरनगर, बागपत, मेरठ, गाजियाबाद, नोएडा, हापुड़, बुलन्दशहर, अलीगढ़, मथुरा तथा आगरा में वोटिंग चल रही है। सुबह सात बजे से शुरू हुई वोटिंग अब बढ़ने लगी है। हालांकि कुछ जिलों में अब भी मतदाताओं में वोटिंग को लेकर सुस्ती दिख रही है। सुबह 11 बजे तक नोएडा में 15 फीसदी, बुलंदशहर में 21.62 फीसदी, दादरी में 20 और जेवर में 22.7 प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ था। वहीं सुबह नौ बजे तक आगरा में 7.53, अलीगढ़ में 8.26, बागपत में 8.93, बुलंदशहर में 7.51, नोएडा में 8.33, गाजियाबाद में 7.37, हापुड़ में 8.20 मथुरा में 8.30, मेरठ में 8.44, मुजफ्फरनगर में 7.50 और शामली में 7.70 फीसदी नौ बजे तक मतदान हुआ है। चुनाव पूरी पारदर्शिता और शांतिपूर्ण तरीके से हो इसके लिए आयोग ने पूरी तैयारी भी कर रखी है। आयोग ने सभी 58 विधानसभा क्षेत्र के बूथों पर अर्द्धसैनिक बलों की तैनाती की है। पश्चिम में हो रहे पहले चरण की वोटिंग में करीब 2 करोड़ 28 लाख मतदाता 623 प्रत्याशियों के भाग्य का फैसला कर रहे हैं। मतदान शाम छह बजे तक चलेगा।
