यूपी का गोरखपुर जोन मादक पदार्थ का हब बनता जा रहा है। इसका प्रमाण है कि पिछले 24 दिनों में जोन पुलिस ने नौ जिलों से करीब चार करोड़ रुपये का मादक पदार्थ बरामद किया है। यह स्थिति तब है, जब पुलिस आदर्श आचार संहिता को लेकर पूरी सतर्कता बरत रही है। अन्य दिनों में क्या स्थिति रहती होगी, आसानी से अंदाजा लगाया जा सकता है।
आदर्श आचार संहिता का पालन हो सके, इसे लेकर पुलिस ने सभी जिलों में पहरा बढ़ा दिया है। बावजूद इसके नशे के सौदागरों को पुलिस का डर नहीं हैं। वह बिना डर भय के घूम रहे हैं। बीते 7 जनवरी से विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए आचार संहिता जारी होने के बाद से एक जनवरी तक नेपाल सीमा से सटे बहराइच जिले में करीब 1.6 करोड़ रुपये की ड्रग्स बरामद हो चुकी है। नेपाल सीमा से सटे सिद्धार्थनगर जिले में 1.5 करोड़ रुपये का ड्रग्स बरामद हुआ है। इसके अलावा श्रावस्ती में 33 लाख, गोरखपुर में 29 लाख रुपये के ड्रग्स बरामद हुए हैं। जोन के 11 जिलों में से नौ जिलों में करीब चार करोड़ रुपये का मादक पदार्थ बरामद हुआ है। इतने बड़े पैमाने पर ड्रग्स का पकड़ा जाना इस बात का प्रमाण है कि गोरखपुर जोन नशे के सौदागरों का केंद्र बनता जा रहा है।
