उत्तर प्रदेश में निकट भविष्य में होने वाले नगरीय निकाय चुनावों के लिए राज्य की राजधानी लखनऊ, प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के संसदीय क्षेत्र वाराणसी, मुख्‍यमंत्री योगी आदित्‍यनाथ के गृह जिले गोरखपुर तथा कानपुर समेत आठ नगर निगमों में महापौर की सीट अनारक्षित रखी गयी है। उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार के नगर विकास मंत्री अरविंद कुमार शर्मा ने सोमवार को लोक भवन (मुख्यमंत्री कार्यालय) के मीडिया सेंटर में एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में राज्य के 17 नगर निगमों के महापौर और 200 नगर पालिका परिषदों तथा 545 नगर पंचायतों के अध्यक्षों के लिए आरक्षित सीटों की अनंतिम सूची जारी की। शर्मा ने त्रिस्तरीय 760 नगरीय निकायों में निर्वाचन के लिए महापौर और अध्यक्ष पदों के आरक्षण की अनंतिम सूची जारी करते हुए कहा कि सात दिनों के भीतर आपत्तियां और सुझाव आमंत्रित किया गया है और यह आ‍पत्ति मिलने के दो दिन बाद अंतिम सूची जारी कर दी जाएगी।

शर्मा ने बताया कि राज्य के 17 नगर निगमों में अनुसूचित जाति (अजा) के लिए आरक्षित दो सीटों में से एक सीट (अजा) महिला वर्ग के लिए होगी। इसी प्रकार पिछड़ा वर्ग के लिए आरक्षित चार सीटों में दो सीटें पिछड़ा वर्ग की महिला के लिए आरक्षित होगी। महिला के लिए नगर निगम की तीन सीटें आरक्षित की गयी हैं। इसके अलावा आठ नगर निगमों को अनारक्षित किया गया है। नगर विकास मंत्री ने नगर निगमों के महापौर के लिए अनंतिम तौर पर जारी किये गये आरक्षण का ब्यौरा देते हुए बताया कि आगरा नगर निगम अनुसूचित जाति की महिला और झांसी नगर निगम अनुसूचित जाति के लिए आरक्षित किया गया है। मथुरा वृंदावन और अलीगढ़ नगर निगम अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग की महिला तथा मेरठ और प्रयागराज नगर निगम अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग के लिए आरक्षित किया गया है। अयोध्या, सहारनपुर और मुरादाबाद नगर निगम महिला के लिए आरक्षित किया गया है। शर्मा ने बताया कि फिरोजाबाद, गाजियाबाद, लखनऊ, कानपुर, गोरखपुर, वाराणसी, बरेली और शाहजहांपुर नगर निगम को अनारक्षित रखा गया है।

उन्होंने बताया कि 200 नगर पालिका परिषदों में अनुसूचित जाति के अध्यक्ष के लिए 27 सीटें आरक्षित की गयी हैं जिनमें नौ सीटें अनुसूचित जाति की महिला के लिए होंगी। इसके अलावा पिछड़ा वर्ग के लिए कुल 54 सीटें आरक्षित की गयी है जिसमें पिछड़ा वर्ग की महिला के लिए 18 सीटें आरक्षित होंगी। महिलाओं के लिए 40 सीटें आरक्षित की गयी हैं तथा 79 सीटें अनारक्षित हैं। नगर विकास मंत्री ने बताया कि राज्य की 545 नगर पंचायतों में अनुसूचित जाति के लिए आरक्षित 73 सीटों में 25 सीटें इस वर्ग की महिलाओं के लिए आरक्षित होंगी। अनुसूचित जनजाति के लिए एक सीट आरक्षित की गयी है। पिछड़ा वर्ग के लिए आरक्षित की गयी 147 सीटों में इस वर्ग की महिलाओं के लिए अध्यक्ष की 49 सीटें आरक्षित की गयी हैं। महिला के लिए कुल 107 सीटें आरक्षित की गयी हैं जबकि 217 सीटों को अनारक्षित रखा गया है। शर्मा ने बताया कि एक सप्ताह में आपत्तियों के मिलने के बाद उसका निस्तारण कर 14 दिसंबर के बाद राज्‍य निर्वाचन आयोग को निकायों के निर्वाचन का प्रस्ताव दे दिया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार की सहमति के बाद राज्‍य निर्वाचन आयोग द्वारा नगरीय निकायों के निर्वाचन की अधिसूचना जारी की जाएगी।
