श्रीरामचरित मानस और सनातन धर्म के प्रति विवादित टिप्पणियों को लेकर अक्सर सुर्खियों में रहने वाले समाजवादी पार्टी (सपा) नेता स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य अब रामलला की प्राण-प्रतिष्ठा पर सवाल उठाकर एक बार फिर चर्चा में हैं। उत्तर प्रदेश के उप मुख्यमंत्रियों केशव प्रसाद मौर्य और ब्रजेश पाठक ने इस बयान के लिये सपा नेता की कड़ी आलोचना की है, वहीं सपा के अंदर भी मौर्य के प्रति विरोध के स्वर उभरने लगे हैं। सपा के विधान परिषद सदस्य स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य ने बुधवार को राज्यपाल के अभिभाषण पर चर्चा के दौरान रामलला की प्राण-प्रतिष्ठा के औचित्य पर सवाल उठाते हुए कहा कि जब रामलला अयोध्या में हजारों साल से पूजे जा रहे हैं तो गत 22 जनवरी को अरबों-खरबों रुपए खर्च करके दोबारा प्राण प्रतिष्ठा करने की क्या जरूरत थी। उत्तर प्रदेश के उपमुख्यमंत्री केशव प्रसाद मौर्य ने बृहस्पतिवार को विधान भवन परिसर में संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में मौर्य के बयानों के लिये सपा अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव को जिम्मेदार ठहराया। केशव ने कहा, समाजवादी पार्टी 2024 में समाप्तवादी पार्टी बनने वाली है। वह कैसे बनेगी और क्यों बनेगी, उसका कारण सपा बहादुर श्री अखिलेश यादव जी हैं, क्योंकि इस पार्टी में कोई भी अगर कुछ बोलता है तो बिना सपा मुखिया के आदेश के नहीं बोल सकता, इसलिए किसी भी प्रकार के बयान के लिए मैं श्री अखिलेश यादव जी को जिम्मेदार मानता हूं।

भाजपा के इस आरोप पर कि स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य सपा अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव के कहने पर ऐसे बयान दे रहे हैं, उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा तो हमेशा झूठ बोलती है। कांग्रेस विधानमंडल दल की नेता आराधना मिश्रा ने मौर्य के बयान पर कहा कि किसी को भी किसी की धार्मिक आस्था को आहत करने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। मौर्य का बयान उनकी व्यक्तिगत राय हो सकती है। स्वामी प्रसाद मौर्य ने बुधवार को विधान परिषद में राज्यपाल के अभिभाषण पर धन्यवाद प्रस्ताव पर चर्चा के दौरान 22 जनवरी को अयोध्या में राम मंदिर में हुई प्राण प्रतिष्ठा का जिक्र करते हुए कहा था, अभिभाषण में रामलला की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा को लेकर बड़ी वाहवाही लूटी गई है। ऐसा लगता है जैसे भाजपा की सरकार के पहले रामलला थे ही नहीं। एक ओर कहा जाता है कि देश के करोड़ों लोगों के भगवान श्री राम हैं, वहीं भारतीय जनता पार्टी उन लोगों की भावनाओं को आहत कर ऐसा ड्रामा कर रही है कि जैसे लगता है कि राम को हम (भाजपा) लाए हैं। उन्होंने कहा, जबकि यह जग विदित है कि हजारों साल से राम की वहां (अयोध्या) पर पूजा होती चली आ रही है तो उसमें प्राण प्रतिष्ठा का प्रश्न कहां उठता है। जब रामलला वहां हजारों साल से पूजे जा रहे हैं तो अरबों-खरबों रुपए खर्च करके दोबारा प्राण प्रतिष्ठा करने का औचित्य क्या था। मैं इस पर सवाल उठाता हूं। जो रामलला पहले से ही छावनी में थे उन्हें ले जाकर मंदिर में स्थापित करना चाहिए था। प्राण प्रतिष्ठा कहां से आ गई। मौर्य ने कहा, प्राण प्रतिष्ठा तो भारतीय जनता पार्टी का कार्यक्रम था।
