बहराइच जिले के एक गांव में एक युवक ने कथित तौर पर पत्नी के अवैध संबंध के शक में अपने ही डेढ़ वर्षीय बेटे के मुंह में कपड़ा ठूंस कर उसकी हत्या कर दी। पुलिस ने शनिवार को यह जानकारी दी। पुलिस ने बताया कि आरोपी को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है। उसके अनुसार रूपईडीहा थाना क्षेत्र के चितरहिया गांव निवासी सुजीत वर्मा का बेटा आनन्द बृहस्पतिवार को अपनी चार वर्षीय बहन के साथ घर में खेल रहा था, तभी सुजीत आया और उसे अपने साथ ले गया। पुलिस ने बताया कि थोड़ी देर बाद बच्चे की मां को वह अधमरी हालत में भूसे की कोठरी में मिला और उसके मुंह में कपड़ा ठूंसा हुआ था तथा उसका सिर भूसे के ढेर में दबा था।
उसने बताया कि बच्चे को अस्पताल ले जाया गया जहां बृहस्पतिवार देर रात उसकी मौत हो गयी। रूपईडीहा थाने के प्रभारी निरीक्षक शमशेर बहादुर सिंह ने बताया कि शुक्रवार को महिला ने अपने पति सुजीत के खिलाफ बेटे की हत्या का मुकदमा दर्ज कराया है जिसके बाद आरोपी को गिरफ्तार कर जेल भेजा गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि शव का पोस्टमार्टम करा मामले की जांच की जा रही है। पुलिस अधीक्षक (एसपी) वृंदा शुक्ला ने कहा, ”प्रारंभिक पूछताछ में सामने आया है कि सुजीत अपनी पत्नी के चरित्र पर शक करता था और आनन्द को अपनी संतान नहीं मानता था। इसलिए उसने अपने डेढ़ वर्षीय बेटे की हत्या कर दी।” उन्होंने बताया कि सुजीत की पत्नी का कहना है कि उसके पति का एक अन्य महिला से अवैध संबंध थे।
