निर्वाचन आयोग ने उत्तर प्रदेश और बिहार सहित पांच राज्यों के पांच विधानसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों तथा उत्तर प्रदेश के मैनपुरी संसदीय निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के लिए उपचुनाव पांच दिसंबर को कराने की घोषणा की है। मैनपुरी लोकसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के अलावा ओडिशा की पदमपुर विधानसभा सीट, राजस्थान की सरदारशहर, बिहार की कुरहानी, छत्तीसगढ़ की भानुप्रतापपुर (अनुसुचित जनजाति) और उत्तर प्रदेश की रामपुर विधानसभा सीट के लिए उपचुनाव कराए जाने हैं।
आयोग की शनिवार को जारी विज्ञप्ति के अनुसार उपचुनाव के लिए गैजेट अधिसूचना 10 नवंबर को जारी की जाएगी। नामांकन 17 नवंबर तक किए जा सकेंगे। नामांकन पत्रों की जांच 18 नवंबर को होगी और प्रत्याक्षी 21 नवंबर तक नामांकन पत्र वापस ले सकेंगे। आयोग ने मतदान की तिथि 05 दिसंबर रखी है और मतगणना 08 दिसंबर को करायी जाएगी जिसदिन हिमाचल प्रदेश और गुजरात विधानसभा चुनाव की मतगणना होनी है। ये उपचुनाव 10 दिसंबर 2022 तक निपट जाएंगे। आयोग ने कहा है कि आदर्श आचार संहिता उन जिलों में जहां पूरे जिले में या किसी संसदीय या विधानसभा क्षेत्र में चुनाव होने जा रहे हैं वहां आदर्श आचार संहिता तुरंत प्रभाव से लागू हो जाएगी।
